I was referred to Orange County Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons by my pulmonologist and primary doctor. On my first visit with Dr. Areo Saffarzadeh, a.k.a. Dr. Areo, he clearly and thoroughly explained my treatment options and the risks in easy-to-understand language. While he explained these options, he drew the lobes of the lung and provided notes on each treatment option. Performing a robotic assisted lobectomy was routine for him. We tentatively scheduled the surgery in four weeks. His demeanor was personable, confident, and compassionate. He provided me with a phone number at which I could reach him and encouraged me to reach out to him if I had questions. I left his office with my notes in hand knowing that his expertise and personal care were exactly what I needed. Later that evening, I was surprised to receive a call from Dr. Areo. He had a question and let me know that he had ordered a PET scan. His office called me the next morning to schedule the scan. Not only is he pleasant and efficient, but his office staff is also. The surgery went precisely as Dr. Areo had described. When the Surgical Pathology Report was available, he was out of state on vacation and sent me a text message explaining the results. We communicated via text regarding the results and further discussed the findings during the postop appointment. It is almost five weeks since I had my surgery, and my recovery is exactly as he had described. I am thrilled that I can resume most activities and am experiencing no shortness of breath. If you are seeking a thoracic surgeon with excellent communication skills who delivers high-quality medical care combined with an exquisite personal experience, I highly recommend that you meet with Dr. Areo Saffarzadeh.
My husband had bypass surgery on 6/6/2022 by Dr. Tang at Providence St. Jude Medical Center. My husband went to ER on 6/4/2022 with chest pain, he already had positive angiogram on 6/2, so he got admitted to 3 North. Dr. Tang was off on 6/5, but he had on call surgeon to visit my husband, and himself made arrangements for the emergency surgery on 6/6 afternoon, we are so much appreciated of his help, because the longer we waited the situation could be much worse. Dr. Tang was so kind and honest with us, explained all the pros and cons, we understood the risks involved, and knew he would do his best. He visited my husband twice before surgery, and talked to me twice after surgery. It was a successful surgery, we could’nt be happier. The whole surgical team from the office were simply wonderful. The same day after angiogram, Allison PA, came to visit and arranged all the tests to be done right there, also gave us a list of info. The post surgical cares were also fantastic, Dr. Tang visited almost everyday, and Gaby NP was there every day as well, took care my husband, and answered all the questions. It’s such a big surgery, we were so worried, and turned out everything went so smoothly. Thank you Dr. Tang.
Dr. Palafox is one of the kindest surgeons I have ever met. He always answered all questions and explained thoroughly all procedures. The doctor is a very positive person. I would highly recommend him to all.
My wife and I were incredibly impressed with Dr Saffarzadeh who was my thoracic surgeon giving us a second chance on a long life. His bedside manner was truly unique as he called frequently to check on me following surgery and on weekends as well. Would highly recommend him to anyone needing surgery under his specialty. Five+ stars!!!!
Do not get intimidated by his unusually long last name, I believe most his patients and office staff call him by his first name, Dr. Areo, Medical Director of Thoracic Surgery. My wife is very lucky to be under his care to have her malignant elements removed from her lung using Robotic Procedures, and is still under Dr. Areo’s post-surgery observation. She is pretty much back to normal to resume her normal activities with little or no side effects. Dr. Areo was introduced to us by his colleague, Dr. Sanjivan Kohli, a specialist in Pulmonary Critical Care at Paloma Medical Group, and also worked with Dr. Areo at Providence Mission Viejo Hospital. Both Dr. Areo & Dr. Kohli are relatively young doctors equipped with the latest medical technology in their fields. They communicate well and are very caring by giving patients direct access to reach them for consultation whenever needed ---- this is an absolutely plus In providing comfort to their patients. They are a dynamic duo in treating Pulmonary diseases and certainly deserved a 10 star rating out of 5.
Thank you great Dr Tang
Words cannot explain how safe I felt when I met Dr. Palafox when I was in the middle of going through the worst life experience I have ever dealt with in life. He made me feel at peace, safe, and gave me reassurance when I was fighting the worst fear in me in regard to my health issues (huge mediastinal mass). He is very welcoming, compassionate, caring, and knowledgeable in what he does. Despite his busy schedule, he made every attempt possible to make sure he was there even if it meant showing up at 9 pm after many surgeries throughout his day.
After my cancer diagnosis, Dr Areo Saffarzadeh was recommended to perform the surgery for removal of the lower lobe of my left lung. Scary situation; but after meeting Dr Saffarzadeh, I knew that I was in good hands. He took time to explain the surgery and the recovery process, answering all of my questions and even drawing a picture. He never rushed our meetings and made every effort to make me feel comfortable. I am so grateful to be under his care and feel totally confident in his abilities. Dr. Saffarzadeh is a compassionate professional who truly cares for his patients and I highly recommend him.
