Orange County Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons.
Orange County Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons (OCTCS) is the oldest continuously practicing trained Cardiothoracic group in Orange County.  The earliest members of the group came together and formed a corporation in 1969.  They were trained by the pioneers in cardiothoracic surgery brining that expertise to Orange County.  The group was instrumental in staring the cardiac and thoracic programs at St. Joseph' Hospital, St. Jude Medical Center, Hoag Memorial, Saddleback Hospital, Western Med Medical Center, Desert Hospital in Palm Springs and St. Mary's in Apple Valley.  The group name has changed as its members increased with surgeons from University Training Programs and/or from other groups that have reorganized.  Multiple members of OCTCS have been recruited and have taken positions as chairmen/directors of their respective programs throughout the United States.  Group members have University Clinical appointments, participate in medical missions oversea to teach and treat underserved peoples.
OCTCS surgeons were the FIRST to do major lung resection surgery (1960's), coronary artery bypass grafting (1970) and pediatric congenital heart surgery in Orange County.  The group remains in the forefront of surgical innovations and procedure utilizing the newest equipment and technology for improved patient outcome and less discomfort.  Minimally invasive-smaller incisions, robotic and percutaneous endo vascular techniques are employed on a daily basis.  The group has an expertise treating patients with heart, lung, chest wall, esophageal and aortic pathology ranging from premature infants less than a pound to adults.
